Yep, its time to quit driving this gas guzzling beast of a machine and let my legs do the work. Bicycle Alley (my fav local bikeshop) has graciously partnered with TentLife, and donated a Felt Curbside fixed gear bike!!! I am way pumped and will now be commuting to work in style.

So why a fixed gear…?

A couple reasons. First of all, having a commuter bike that is relatively low maintenance has a huge upside, as there are not gears to mash and shifter adjustments to slow you down. A fixed gear is as straightforward as can be – which takes me back to when I was 9 years old and terrorized the neighborhood on my BMX bike, slamming back on the petals and leaving long black skid marks on Mrs. Brown’s driveway.

Secondly, they are sweet.

So look for more posts in the future on ways in which you can cut down on your carbon footprint and how much money you could be saving riding a bike instead of driving!!
